Allergy Labelling compliance

On 1st October 2021, the UK government introduced changes to allergen labelling requirements, also known as ‘Natasha’s Law’. This requires any business that produces prepacked for direct sale (PPDS) food to label it with the name of the food and a full ingredients list, with allergenic ingredients emphasised within the list.

It may sound complicated but it needn’t be, IndiCater has all the tools to help make your business compliant.

Why do we need ‘Natasha’s Law’?

Before 1 October 2021, the allergen information for prepacked food products could be provided by any means. This includes being informed verbally by staff.

‘Natasha’s Law’ was introduced following the death of Natasha Ednan-Laperouse, who had an allergic reaction caused by a baguette that did not require allergen labelling at the time.

It is hoped that the new regulations will help this stop happening to others.
